Cardiff, 19 August 2024 – Several cars were damaged on a Cardiff industrial estate yesterday evening after scaffolding was blown off a roof, prompting a swift response from the fire service.
The incident occurred at Trident Industrial Park, located off Ocean Way and Glass Avenue in the Tremorfa area. South Wales Fire and Rescue Service confirmed they received a report at 6:03pm, with a crew from Cardiff arriving on the scene within two minutes. By 6:30pm, one crew remained at the site to manage the situation.
The fire service confirmed that the scaffolding had fallen from a building onto vehicles parked below. The Welsh Ambulance Service was also contacted, but it is currently understood that no injuries have been reported.
Trident Industrial Park houses several businesses, including Supajump trampoline park and UFIT gym. It remains unclear if the scaffolding was associated with any specific business within the large industrial unit. However, photos from the scene reveal the scaffolding had collapsed across the breadth of the building.
An eyewitness reported that approximately 10 cars were damaged in the incident, with some vehicles suffering smashed windscreens. Images from the scene show extensive cordons set up across the car park as fire officers worked to secure the area. Several vehicles were visibly trapped beneath scaffolding poles and tarpaulin material.
As of 6:30pm, the South Wales Fire and Rescue Service remained on site to ensure safety. Businesses operating within the industrial estate are expected to be contacted for comment regarding the incident.
