Gareth Bale, the Welsh football legend and former Real Madrid star has sparked excitement with a video showcasing his still-formidable skills. Despite retiring from professional football, Bale’s recent display on social media has proven that his left foot’s magic remains intact.
Bale, 34, surprised the football world last year when he announced his retirement. Known for his heroic performances in the 2016 European Championship and subsequent World Cup campaigns, Bale’s career included five Champions League titles with Real Madrid. However, persistent injuries led him to hang up his boots.
Since retiring, Bale has enjoyed more family time and indulged in his passion for golf. Despite multiple attempts to coax him out of retirement, including appeals from Wrexham co-owners Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney, Bale has remained off the professional pitch.
In a video posted on X by Viva Bale, the former footballer is seen executing his trademark free-kick routine, reminiscent of his memorable goal against Austria two years ago. Describing his process, Bale says, “I’m going to pick a spot on the grass that’s got a bit of a tee. I’ll aim the valve at my target and take one, two, three, four steps, one to the right, take a deep breath, and then start my run-up.”
Bale then expertly strikes the ball into the top right-hand corner of the goal from roughly 20 yards out, prompting him to humorously remark, “I should come out of retirement really!”
Bale’s illustrious career saw him capped 111 times for Wales, scoring 41 goals. His free-kick against Austria at Cardiff City Stadium during the World Cup qualifier semi-final play-off is considered one of his finest moments. This latest video serves as a reminder of Bale’s exceptional talent and leaves fans wondering if a return to the pitch could be on the horizon.
