A hotel in Cardiff was evacuated and a police cordon was established after a man was allegedly found with a gun. The incident occurred at the Citrus Hotel near the Utilita Arena, prompting a significant response from both police officers and firefighters.
South Wales Police received a report of “suspicious items inside a hotel room” at the Citrus Hotel on Bute Terrace just before 12:25 PM on Wednesday. Upon arrival, officers, accompanied by the South Wales Fire Service, evacuated the hotel and set up cordons as a precautionary measure.
A police spokesperson confirmed that a 26-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of possessing a Class B controlled drug and possession of a firearm without a certificate. He remains in police custody. The spokesperson also reassured the public that there was “no wider threat” to guests or the general public.
The Citrus Hotel, a three-star establishment run by Compass Hospitality, was previously known as the Big Sleep Hotel Cardiff. The swift response and precautionary measures taken ensured the safety of all guests and staff during the incident.
